Craig W GS2.jpeg

Driven by Dedication

Craig's first job was delivering newspapers in Illinois and Riverside, CA. His father  proudly served his country in the Air Force during the Vietnam War, and Craig had the opportunity to live in several different states in the sixties. After high school, Craig immediately went to work as an electrician apprentice in the IBEW. There he met his wife and they started their family. Craig switched unions to the International Union of Operating Engineers in 1984 where he retired in December of 2021 - ending a very long union career, which allowed he and his wife to retire comfortably.

Craig knows that working people are the backbone of America - that's why he'll go to work in the legislature on day one to improve the lives of working people. Craig will improve access to affordable healthcare for our families and seniors. He will work to end barriers to childcare so working people can go to work knowing their kids are somewhere safe. He will work with all of the local unions to facilitate a safer and more secure workplace including better conditions with mandatory breaks and sanitary facilities. He will continue to support and create comprehensive apprenticeship programs, in order to promote the trades as an alternative to student loan debt.

We all know, the biggest issue facing all of us today is affordable housing. Many of the unhoused are tragically victims of poor choices and a system stacked against them.  Craig will work on policy to address these causes and work toward a permanent solution and immediately deploy resources that can provide immediate relief, including mental healthcare and temporary shelters.

Like many of his friends and neighbors here in rural Washington, Craig and his family came here to enjoy the fresh air, wide open land, great views, small town values and friendly neighbors. We all look out for each other here and Craig want's to look out for us all in the legislature.
